PAE is so committed to providing for the continued education of its people that we created our own university. Clearly this is a benefit to PAE employees. Less clear, perhaps, is the advantage it provides the firm.
PAE university's multi-faceted goal is to ensure that all our staff members:
- Have a core base of information.
- Understand other PAE service areas.
- Stay abreast of the latest approaches, technologies and thinking in their professions.
- Understand the fundamentals of PAE as an engineering firm and as a business.
An additional benefit is that our presenters get experience in public speaking, a crucial skill in today’s business environment.
How is the University Structured?
Everybody in the firm has to take at least 6 core courses and 12 electives taught inside the firm, or an equivalent number of outside courses.
There are internal ‘core’ courses and ‘elective’ courses, mostly taught by PAE staff. Younger staff tend to take most of their courses in-house, because those courses usually focus on fundamentals. Internal courses also include non-engineering courses such as marketing, finance and HR fundamentals.
Our more professionally advanced staff are more likely to take the majority of their courses out of house. Those may include higher-level finance, management, human relations, and marketing or multi-day conferences focused on a specific market sector or technology.
Our Commitment is Real
Truly, PAE cultivates a learning environment. We take education seriously, and we understand that learning doesn't stop. Markets shift, the profession evolves, technology advances, and the world is continually changing. Education is the tool that prepares us to identify the opportunities and grow from our changing world... opportunities to help each other, our firm and our communities.
