Nueva School at Bay Meadows is a high school for 450 gifted students located on a 2.75 acre site in San Mateo’s Bay Meadows development. The new additions and renovations included the 3-story Diane Rosenberg Wing focused on performing arts, a new 2-story Courtyard Building over an existing garage. The new wing has a theatre/auditorium, fine arts classrooms, innovation labs, outdoor spaces to support the unique curriculum.

Progress Report

  • Energy Use Index (EUI) goal of 22 compared to typical school EUI of 48.5 with planned solar PV to lower EUI to 17.3.

  • 42% energy cost savings over AHSRAE 90.1 baseline.

  • Offsets 10% of the proposed building energy cost demand through planned onsite PV energy production.

  • The team performed energy studies in order to optimize performance and assess all electric, no fossil fuel usage.
