Revitalizing a historic facility into a high-performance hub for agricultural research, innovation, and sustainability.
The 1950’s era creamery comes full circle in this renovation of historic Withycombe Hall for OSU’s agricultural science program. The upgraded building is home to a Dairy Pilot Plant for cheese and ice-cream innovations, and houses faculty, staff, and researchers for the university’s Animal & Rangeland Sciences.
PAE’s design brings integrated, high-performance building systems that quietly enhance comfort, efficiency, and air quality while supporting the building’s modern research and production needs.
Special Features
- Climate-friendly systems reduce energy and water consumption with efficient strategies.
- An enhanced envelope reinforces thermal comfort for occupants and reduces the need for heating and cooling.
- Natural ventilation and filtration help offer excellent indoor air quality.
Beaver Classic Café
The Kitchen Lab feeds into a public-facing café and store, allowing innovation, collaboration and offering OSU-made products like fresh ice cream and cheese.
